Book Talk and Signing with Dr. Shanéa Thomas
Busboys and Poets · Northwest Washington
Friday, October 23, 2026 · 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
What does it take to care for the people who spend their lives caring for everyone else? Join Dr. Shanéa Thomas, LICSW, CSE, for a lively conversation celebrating the release of Accountable Care and Identity Camaraderie for Transgender and Queer Service Providers: Preventing Burnout (Bloomsbury, 2026). Moderated by Whitman-Walker Peer Support Coordinator Michael Mitchell, this evening explores burnout, LGBTQ+ identity, practitioner wellness, and what organizations can do to create cultures where people can stay, thrive, and do meaningful work for the long haul. Together, we’ll consider how community connection, accountability, and collective care can help us navigate turbulent times—and how we can build pathways of legacy that make room for the next generation of community workers. Come for the conversation, stay for the community. Books will be available for purchase.
