Italian Shabbat

Friday, October 9, 2026 · 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Join Hillel for a Shabbat dinner with an Italian twist! We'll share a festive Italian meal and explore the story of one of the oldest Jewish communities in the world. Jews have lived in Italy for over two thousand years, through the days of ancient Rome, the Renaissance, the creation of the Venice Ghetto, and the vibrant communities that continue today in Rome, Milan, Livorno, and beyond. Over the evening, we'll talk about their history, their distinct traditions and foods, and what makes Italian Jewish life unique. Expect good food, great conversation, and plenty of Shabbat warmth. No background in Judaism or Italian history required, and everyone is welcome. Come hungry. Bring your curiosity. Mangia!
