Democracy Today Book Event with Suzanne Mettler, Rural Versus Urban: The Growing Divide that Threatens Democracy

The College of Liberal Arts invites you to this year’s Democracy Today Book Event. Our featured speaker Prof. Suzanne Mettler (Cornell University) will discuss her recent book, Rural Versus Urban: The Growing Divide that Threatens Democracy (Princeton University Press, 2025), which she co-authored with Trevor E. Brown. The event will take place on Wednesday, October 7 at 5 p.m. in LA 4310, and it will be followed by a brief reception where participants will have the opportunity to meet the author. Whether you are a current student, alum, faculty/staff member or friend of TU, we hope you will join us. Prof. Mettler will lead a rich discussion about the history of the divide between rural and urban voters by looking at how past political decisions impacted them in different ways and therefore led them to making divergent political choices.
