"Resisting Anti-Judaism: Practices of Christian Solidarity" — A Conversation with Daniel Joslyn-Siemiatkoski, Philip A. Cunningham, and Peter Ochs
Amidst the current world-wide rise in anti-Judaism and antisemitism, Daniel Joslyn-Siemiatkoski’s new book helps Christians become better equipped to recognize and respond to their tradition’s embedded and often unconscious animus toward Jews and Judaism. He first contextualizes this animus and then suggests alternative ways of approaching Scripture, preaching, praying, and teaching.
After Daniel Joslyn-Siemiatkoski introduces his book, Philip A. Cunningham and Peter Ochs, prominent Catholic and Jewish voices in Christian-Jewish dialogue, will offer responses to it.
Daniel Joslyn-Siemiatkoski is the Kraft Family Professor and Director of the Center for Christian-Jewish Learning at Boston College. He is a scholar of Christian-Jewish relations and comparative theology and the author of numerous books and articles, including the forthcoming Resisting Anti-Judaism: Practices of Christian Solidarity. Beyond the academy, he serves on the Committee on Religion and the Holocaust of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. He is also a priest ordained in the Episcopal Church. In that capacity he is the ecumenical and interreligious relations officer for the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts.
Peter Ochs is the Edgar M. Bronfman Professor of Modern Judaic Studies Professor Emeritus at the University of Virginia and the 2024-2025 Corcoran Visiting Chair in Christian-Jewish Relations at Boston College. He completed his PhD at Yale University and his MA in Jewish Thought at the Jewish Theological Seminary. His research focuses include Jewish philosophy and theology, Comparative Jewish-Christian-Muslim studies, and Abrahamic "Scriptural Reasoning."
Philip A. Cunningham is Professor Emeritus of Theology and Co-Director Emeritus of the Institute for Jewish-Catholic Relations of Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA.
