Social Justice Café: Intersection of AI, Ethics, and Human Rights

Wednesday, October 21, 2026 · 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Join us for a conversation about AI, Ethics and Human Rights. What are some ways in which AI is useful? What are some ethical and social concerns raised about AI? How does this impact the right to privacy for many, and what are some human rights concerns being expressed? Leading this conversation is Dr. Berenice Fernandez Nieto, Policy Analyst at the Centre for International Security and Economic Strategy (CISES). Our Social Justice Cafe series is hosted virtually every other Wednesday throughout the academic year from 12-1 PM CST on Zoom. Add us to your calendar so you never miss another Social Justice Cafe! Activities Statement: The purpose of all UAB Institute for Human Rights (IHR) programs, activities, and endeavors is to foster collaboration, scholarly exchange, and academic learning related to human rights.
