Doobie Powell is a singer, songwriter, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose musical language was formed in the church and expanded across gospel, soul, jazz, and R&B. Born Hubert Leander Powell III into a deeply musical Hartford family, he absorbed harmony, rhythm, and improvisation early, developing the keyboard command and vocal flexibility that would become signatures of his work. Powell's career includes collaborations and performances with artists such as Kim Burrell, the Clark Sisters, Tramaine Hawkins, Kelly Price, Billy Preston, Musiq Soulchild, and Robert Glasper.
