Volunteer to help prepare lunches for Athens Area Stand Down

All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to come to Patton Hall's Demonstration Kitchen (room 120) between 9:30am and noon on Sept. 30 and/or Oct. 1 to help our RHT students prepare boxed lunches to be served to veterans battling homelessness at the Athens Area Stand Down. Our Restaurant, Hotel and Tourism students will lead the volunteers in the preparation and preregistration is not required. The Athens Area Stand Down will take place Friday, Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to noon (veterans only) and 12 to 2 p.m. (for all) at the Athens County Fairgrounds. The purpose of the event is "To provide those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness the resources they need to address their problems and rebuild their lives. We supply items to help them get through the winter months such as winter hats, jackets, gloves, blankets, toiletries, socks, etc., and agencies provide information on additional resources for those in need."
