The School of Art + Design will host a reception on Thursday August 27, 5-7pm. Open and free to the public This pair of exhibitions runs concurrently in the galleries in the RTEC building, celebrating a life long dedication to the art and craft of ceramics of two accomplished and recently retired professors from the School of Art + Design, on view from August 24 through October 23, 2026. Charles McWeeny, Professor and Dean Emeritus of the College of Fine Arts, taught in ceramics and foundations at OHIO for more than 40 years. Additionally, from 2000-2012 he was the Associate Dean then Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Ohio University. He began early retirement in 2014 and continued to teach one semester a year until 2026 when he retired fully. Brad Schwieger, Professor Emeritus of Ceramics, has been teaching at Ohio University since 1990, and has built a dedicated top-ranked nationally recognized program in the School of Art + Design. Prior to that he was an Associate Professor at Vincennes University in Indiana (1985-1990). Brad received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Utah State University in 1983 and his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa in 1981.
