\n\nPiano Starts Here: Marian McPartland and Her Guests\n\nMarian McPartla
nd was a musician who straddled the line between swing and modern Jazz\, a
nd possessed and adventurous\, risk-taking spirit. This spirit was what ca
tapulted her to becoming a household name\, with her wildly popular radio
show “Piano Jazz”\, in which she interviewed and collaborated with man
y of the greatest musicians around.\n\nPiano Starts Here highlights the w
ork of some of the most prolific and talented composers and pianists to ha
ve ever tackled the instrument. Each of the performances brings together S
eattle’s finest pianists to perform the works of the artist selected for
that evening on the Royal Room’s Steinway B grand piano. This series is
sponsored by KNKX and the South Hudson Music Project.
