meet on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay and begin a friendship that will s
pan nearly sixty years. From childhood at Bayside Academy through careers\
 , families\, losses\, football Saturdays\, boats\, and countless stories\,
Randy\, Doug\, and Charlie remain connected by place\, memory\, and tradi
tion. At the center is a simple ritual: ribs and Heineken at Dreamland on
the second Wednesday of every month. Set against the distinctive backdrop
of Fairhope and Mobile Bay\, this is a story about growing older\, finding
your way home\, and discovering that lasting friendship is built not on e
xtraordinary moments\, but on continuing to show up.About the AuthorStephe
n "Chick" McGurl met Randy Niemeyer at Longwood College in 1982. Two years
later\, after visiting the New Orleans World's Fair with his brother Kevi
n\, he headed east to Fairhope and found a place\, and friendships\, that
would keepcalling him back. Since meeting Charlie and Doug in the 1980s\,
he has returned often to fish\, sit on piers\, eat barbecue and hush puppi
es\, and visit Dreamland. One of his favorite places anywhere is beside th
e fire pit at the Grand Hotel\, smoking cigars and telling lies with old f
riends. He still considers singing "Dixieland Delight" in Bryant-Denny Sta
 dium a life highlight. A kindhearted\, sarcastic wiseass\, McGurl writes a
bout friendship\, tradition\, and the places that become part of us. This
 is his third book.
